Career Planning
The AETS Resource Centre and Staff are available for the client's job search from Monday to Friday between 9:30 am and 4:30 pm. Assistance to clients is available in the preparation of cover letters, resumes, employment applications and related job search tools. The available computer workstations have internet access, for purposes of allowing the Job Seeker to search for online employment opportunities.

Continuing Education Assistance
• Continuing Education Options (Ontario Secondary School Diploma Credits and/or High School Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition):
- The on-site High School Teacher has a website that lists related supports, and is available and can be scheduled by speaking with the AETS Administrative Assistant at 807-346-0307 or via email at aets@aets.org.
- AETS in co-operation with Ogoki Learning and the support of the First Nations Confederacy of Cultural Education Centres and Kinoomaadziwin Education Body - Regional Education Council 1, created a Free Full Immersion "Anishinabek Quest" Language App for deployment in the classroom from Early Learners to Grade 12 levels which includes access to: Anishinaabemowin Language ReconciliACTION Program
Employment Advising
• An Employment Officer is available and can be scheduled by speaking with the Employment Officer at 807-346-0307 or via email at aets@aets.org,
- Provides guidance, assessment and career planning services with Labour Market Information
- Offers training initiatives and/or courses that may be purchased by individuals who have identified an employment opportunity and require specific training
- Referrals for available Project Initiatives
- Referrals through available network.
- Serco Canada Inc., is a Service System Manager (SSM) administering the Northwest, Kitchener-Waterloo-Barrie, and Kingston-Pembroke catchment areas in Ontario through EmployNext, and has partnered with Anishinabek Employment and Training Services (AETS) in Northwestern Ontario as an Indigenous Skills Employment and Training Agreement (ISETA) Holder to incorporate Indigenous perspectives across its provincial network to support the Integrated Employment Service Delivery (IESD) Model.

- AETS has a Job Seeker Portal to add your respective information to our database.
• Life Skills Support:
- The Employment Officer has a website that lists related supports including leadership training, and is available through an appointment by speaking with the AETS Administrative Assistant at 807-346-0307 or via email at aets@aets.org.
• Elder in Residence Support:
AETS is pleased to have an Elder in Residence and website located here in Thunder Bay, with a weekly rotation of Elders from each of the nine AETS First Nation communities.
The Elder in Residence offers support and guidance for clients continuing their education and training for careers, and is a resource for supporting client personal growth. The Elder role also includes offering teachings for clients, staff, and others that:
- Enhance the Cultural Perspective
- Build Relationships with both the Indigenous and Non-Indigenous Community
- Promote Awareness of Culture and Traditions
- Address Social and Cultural Issues
- Provide a Mentor/Role Model
- Promote Harmony.
