Nishnawbe-Aski Legal Services Corporation is presently recruiting for a
MANG-OTAWIN FACILITATOR
(External Posting, Term Contract – Ending March 31, 2027)
Thunder Bay, ON
Mang-Otawin (Where the Loon Lives) is funded by the Department of Justice Canada (Indigenous Justice Program). The purpose of the project is to support community-determined, culturally responsive mediation/dispute resolution, healing and intervention for youth, families, intimate partners and/or community members.
Qualifications:
• This position requires at a minimum a secondary school diploma with related work experience
• It is preferred that the Mang-Otawin Facilitator holds a post-secondary degree or diploma in social work, child and family worker program, mental health, ADR/mediation experience or related fields
• Minimal travel may be required
• Sensitivity, awareness, and implementation of traditional/cultural teachings
• Understands intersectional approach to gender, race and discrimination and intergenerational effects of youth and families
• Excellent case and file management skills, administrative and coordination skills, stress management and time management skills, ability to meet deadlines
• Proficient working knowledge of MS Office Software, internet, and general office equipment
• Ability to speak the language and knowledge of culture is an asset.
• Ability to engage people to build trust and rapport; effective verbal and listening communication skills specifically in conflict resolution and nonviolent crisis intervention; excellent interviewing and counselling skills.
• Experience and knowledge of the legal system is an asset.
Location: Thunder Bay, ON
Hours: Full Time – Contract (35 Hours Per Week)
Starting Salary: $54,113 Annually
