The Opportunity

Reporting to the Supervisor – Parks & Open Space Planning, you will be responsible for all aspects of the creation, implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the Parks GIS, asset management, and work order systems. You will also support strategic planning and operation of the Section.

 Some of the accountabilities for this role are:

·       Develops, assesses, and continually improves Parks asset management systems consistent with the Corporate asset management plan.

·       Implements, coordinates, and maintains Parks asset management initiatives throughout the Section including asset condition assessments, inventories, lifecycle model analysis, work order solutions, and field data collection/verification.

·        Leads, designs, updates, and maintains GIS, asset database, and work order solutions for Parks Section assets and operational maintenance activities.

·       Advises Section management on critical areas for tactical asset management improvements and strategic capital expenditure priorities.

·     Monitor trends in City growth and develops, reviews, and recommends community and technical levels of services to provide consistent and equitable service responding to changing community needs, the overall Corporate Strategic Plan, and the Corporate asset management plan.

·        Assists with the preparation of reports, business cases, surveys, studies, maps/ drawings and prepares/delivers various data for benchmarking exercises.

·        Monitors emerging trends, and new / revised laws and regulations related to asset & risk management for Parks.  

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

·         Degree or diploma in engineering, business, environmental studies, or a related discipline.  

·         Three to five years’ experience in planning, research, and data management directly related to Parks Division activities.

·         Experience working with GIS mapping programs is required.

·         Proficient with GIS software (ESRI).

·         Demonstrated ability to create data collection projects, collect and process data using programmable and non-programmable devices and software.
