Role Description
The Major Gifts Officer supports the CEO in the strategic development and implementation of fundraising initiatives for major gifts, legacy giving, and communications in support of the Resource Development Plan. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and monitoring Major Gift and Legacy Giving programs, and leading Communications and Marketing efforts.


You will help create a Resource Development Plan, prepare long-term strategies for Major Gifts and Legacy Giving programs, and work with colleagues and volunteers to cultivate, solicit and steward major gift donors. Collaborating with the Community Impact team, you will align donor passions with community strategies and impact initiatives.


In communications, you will work closely with the communications and marketing firm to execute effective public relations and strategic communications, building the United Way brand and strengthening relationships with key partners.

Job Specifications
• Post-secondary education in a related field and/or appropriate experience
• Background in fundraising, special events, marketing, and communications
• Experience in the voluntary/not-for-profit sector
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced knowledge of computerized systems and CRM software
• Use of a vehicle and a valid driver's license
• Clear criminal records check
