Reporting to the Communications Supervisor, the Communications Assistant will assist with communications initiatives for Tikinagan and our service model, Mamow Obiki-ahwahsoowin – which guides the work of all staff at Tikinagan Child and Family Services.

· Support the Communications department in executing internal and external communications, such as:
o Social Media
o Internal Newsletters and applications, such as SharePoint and e-mail newsletter platforms
o Website/Portal Updates
o Proofreading and editing
o Graphic Design
o External & Internal Events
o Promotional Orders & Deliveries
o Equipment and File Inventory
o Campaign and event support
· Create content for weekly Radio Show, newsletters, and online posts
- Support Communications team by creating and editing visual content, both photography and videography, for the purpose of the promotion of Mamow Obiki-ahwahsoowin (Tikinagan’s service model), services, Tikinagan communities and events, foster parent recruitment and employment opportunities
· Travel to events, First Nation communities, and urban areas for promotional purposes
· Research and monitor communication trends
· Develop and maintain working relationships with other Units for the purpose of achieving Mamow Obiki-ahwahsoowin
· Attend regular team and planning meetings
· Other duties as assigned

· At least 2+ years experience in marketing, communications, graphic design or community engagement is an asset
· Excellent verbal, written, organizational, time management, and communication skills
· Can work independently or collaboratively with small cross-functional teams
· Ability to work in a fast-paced setting under tight deadlines with strong project and time management skills
· Experience working with video, photo, and graphic design (i.e. Adobe Suite, Canva) is required
· Experience with social media platforms and social media management is an asset
· Professional integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality are essential
· Excellent people skills with experience traveling in the region and working with First Nations leadership and community members is a strong asset
· Ability to speak an Indigenous People’s language is an asset
· Travel is a requirement
· Valid driver’s license or willingness to obtain one
· · Must provide and pass a criminal records check
